At the end of this eventful year, we would like to say THANK YOU!
Thank you to our colleagues, customers, partners, and communities. 2025 was a year of change—and this change was only possible because many people took responsibility, shared knowledge, and worked together.
A milestone with far-reaching consequences in 2025 was the change in management (Link to article): Reinhild Jung and Oliver Seufer have been running the company together ever since. They stand for continuity as well as new impetus.
We look to the future with fresh enthusiasm and clear perspectives.
Secure infrastructures: Strong portfolio, promoting sovereignty
In the area of secure infrastructure, one thing is central to SerNet: reliability. Our customers expect stable security architectures, clear points of contact, and solutions that are sustainable in the long term. We naturally offer the appropriate portfolio—and are sharpening it in a targeted manner.
In 2025, we placed a stronger focus on digital sovereignty. We supplement proven security solutions with open-source approaches. These include virtualization with Proxmox and network access control with PacketFence.
Currently, the higher requirements of the NIS2 Directive are also presenting many organizations with specific implementation questions. SerNet offers joint answers from a single source: consulting, technical solutions, and operational support.
verinice: New generation, new possibilities
verinice also took a decisive step forward in 2025. With the new generation of the open-source ISMS tool, the technological basis was reestablished: web-based, modular, and consistently designed for collaboration.
In terms of content, topics such as ISO 27001, IT baseline protection, data protection, and NIS2 are growing closer together. Further expansion steps are planned for 2026, including new functions, the on-premises option, and additional domains such as business continuity management. The goal remains a digitally sovereign GRC tool that makes complexity manageable and information security efficient.
SAMBA: Milestones for open infrastructure
2025 was a particularly important year for Samba. As part of a funding from the Sovereign Tech Agency, the Samba project was able to achieve key development milestones that will strengthen its performance and future viability in the long term. The work was coordinated by SerNet and has an impact far beyond individual releases. Samba thus remains a key project for open, interoperable IT infrastructures worldwide – and a central building block of digital sovereignty.
SerNet is pleased to have made a decisive contribution to this. In 2026, we will continue to consistently expand this path, with a focus on stability, interoperability, and sustainable open-source governance.
Outlook: Shaping 2026
In 2026, we will continue to be a reliable partner in Göttingen, Germany, and worldwide.
Exchange and open dialogue, which characterize our work, remain important. We therefore continue to rely on formats in which experiences are shared and topics are explored in depth: at the SerNet Forum, at the verinice. XP and sambaXP. We look forward to welcoming you in person and getting to know you!
We wish you a relaxing Christmas season and a good start to the new year!
