The initial survey of all IT systems at new SerNet customers plays a special role. Not only are hardware, software, networks and the most important IT processes recorded at the customer's premises, but the IT documentation is usually brought up to a level that makes joint discussion of an IT strategy and upcoming work possible for the first time.
The documentation always includes a visit report in which we process all areas in which IT is used at the customer. We create network documentation for level 2 and 3, i.e. once for the networking on the level of the switches and then for the network configuration in the IP network. The goal of the documentation is to be able to talk about the customer's IT landscape without having to keep walking around the house or turning on the computer. Good documentation describes the entire IT and can be stored in a safe place - and is therefore also the first step towards emergency management.
