Neues zur Samba 4 Appliance
Samba 4 war eines der brennenden Themen auf der CeBIT 2012. Volker Lendecke und Michael Adam hielten sehr gut besuchte Vorträge auf dem Stand der univention GmbH und der Open Source Forum.
Die auf der Messe angekündigte Samba4-Appliance wird ab dem 19. März 2012 zum Download verfügbar sein. Siehe dazu dann die Rubrik Samba 4 auf unserem Webserver!

samba eXPerience 2011 - Call for Papers
From May 9th to 11th 2011 developers and users will meet again in Goettingen, Germany at international Samba conference, the "samba eXPerience 2011".
SerNet is proud to host this unique event for the tenth time! During the last years Samba has been established as a key infrastructure system for file servers and authentication. With "private cloud infrastructure" a current buzzword directly points to Samba's outstanding features: Building the base for reliable, perfomant, secure and elastic, distributed cluster storage.
The sambaXP is the leading event with focus on this most important freealternative to proprietary SMB/CIFS servers.

Security flaw in Samba: SerNet packages not affected
Today the Samba team issued a news posting about a security issue in Samba. The packages provided by SerNet are not affected by this vulnerability.
Even though an update is not necessare by security reasons SerNet still recommends to update Samba to latest release.

Samba-Baustein für IT-Grundschutz
Im Rahmen einer Bachelor-Arbeit in Kooperation mit der FH Hagenberg in Österreich wurde für die IT-Grundschutzkataloge des BSI der Baustein Samba neu erstellt. Christoph Zauner arbeitete zu diesem Zweck ein halbes Jahr lang bei der SerNet und erstellte den Baustein in enger Abstimmung mit den Kolleginnen und Kollegen des SAMBA-Teams und der Abteilung Certs & Audits.

SerNet auf dem LinuxTag
Auch in diesem Jahr ist SerNet wieder umfangreich auf dem LinuxTag in Berlin vom 24. bis 27. Juni vertreten: In Halle 7.2b an Stand 117 informieren wir zu unseren Projekten Samba und verinice und Lösungen für die IT-Sicherheit.
Im Vortragsprogramm berichten drei Kollegen der SerNet über ihre aktuellen Entwicklungsarbeiten:
- Volker Lendecke eröffnet das Vortragsprogramm des ersten Tages mit einem Beitrag über den Merger von Samba3 und Samba4,
- Michael Adam berichtet im Anschluss über Clustering mit Samba und CTDB und
- Alexander Koderman hält einen Vortrag im Business- und Behördenprogramm über das Managament von Informationssicherheit mit OpenSource-Tools in der Praxis.
